RED FACTION: GUERRILLA REVIEW
Red Faction: Guerrilla Review!

Posted by London on Jun 16, 2009 22:15 (Jun 16, 2009 22:15)

Red Faction: Guerrilla is a Third-Person open world sandbox game that takes place on the planet Mars. In the game you are a member of the Red Faction. The Red Faction is an organization that is trying to control Mars. On Mars there are six sectors; that you will take over one at a time.

There are many missions you can do on Red Faction: Guerrilla. Some are just campaign missions in which you do a variety of different things depending on what you are told to do. Other things you can do are Guerrilla Actions. Guerilla Actions can also be a wide variety of different things to do. Some include taking out convoys of enemy vehicles, others can be, following an enemy vehicle until it stops, then kill the driver to secure the vehicle then to return it to your base, etc.

There are also many side missions you can do. One is “House Arrest” in which you will go to an enemy building, and secure hostages. Others are where you will destroy a building within a certain time limit, and another, where you will get a vehicle that the enemy has captured and you will return it to your base.

There are a variety of weapons in Red Faction: Guerrilla. You will always have your sledgehammer with you, and you can switch your other weapons out between, Remote Charges, Assault Rifle, Pistol, Arc Welder, Rocket Launcher, and more. You can also upgrade your weapons and armor. Upgrades for weapons will include increased ammunition capacity, more charges can be placed before detonation (Remote Charges), heat-seeking Rockets (Rocket Launcher), and many more.

There is a wide variety of vehicles in Red Faction: Guerrilla. There are many different vehicles there mainly just to get-around. But of course there are other vehicles, like the Combat Walker, Light Walker, and Heavy Walker, etc. The Combat Walker is best if used in combat, I’m sure you could have guessed. The Light Walker is used mainly to move around more quickly, plus it comes equipped with mini jets on it to go higher and reach more places. Then you have the Heavy Walker, which was designed for big mining operations but is just as good for taking out buildings. It will destroy vehicles in a single blow, of course it isn’t the fastest vehicle in the game, but you won’t find anything else that can level a building faster.

Red Faction: Guerrilla also has a compelling multiplayer mode. There are different modes you can play which include Siege, Demolition, etc. In multiplayer you can get backpacks, which can do different things, depending on which backpack you get. One of course is a Jetpack, which lets you fly for a short amount of time. Other packs include Firepower, Vision, Stealth, Rhino, Fleetfoot, and more. Firepower increases your weapon damage while activated. The Vision pack lets you see enemies through walls while activated. Stealth will turn you almost completely invisible while activated. The Rhino pack lets you run really fast and through any wall for a very short amount of time. And the Fleetfoot lets you sprint, while the pack is activated.

Everything in Red Faction: Guerrilla is destructible. You can blow up buildings, vehicles, and pretty much anything you find. Even if you don’t like the game you can still relieve stress by just blowing everything up! If a building is in your way, blow it up with Remote Charges or, plow through it with your sledgehammer.

Overall, Red Faction: Guerrilla in my opinion is a great game with amazing graphics, a compelling story, exciting and action packed multiplayer, and it is well worth the buy. Red Faction: Guerrilla has a lot of detail that I couldn’t possibly describe in just a review, you will just have to experience that yourself.
