Batman: Arkham Asylum (BAA for short) like I said makes you feel great when you get done pounding on some enemies' faces. No other superhero game really has done that for me. In the Spiderman games you find a button combo that you like, and use it to kill everyone, which can be kind of boring honestly. But in BAA there are so many different moves, and each have different pros and cons, so certain moves work better against certain enemies.  Batman gets a lot of cool equipment to use during his missions. The Batarang can take out enemies from a distance, the grappling hook lets you take to the roofs for a quick escape, your glider makes gliding off of roofs and onto enemies heads an easy feat, and obviously your fists make for a good weapon in themselves. BAA is a game where being stealthy sometimes is necessary to win the battle. You can take the high ground, swinging from gargoyle to gargoyle, or sneak through the shadows. Drop down on enemies from above or hang them up from a gargoyle. Batman: Arkham Asylum begins with you taking the Joker into the Arkham City Asylum (could’ve guessed that, right?) well, obviously the Joker doesn’t stay pinned up for long, or that wouldn’t make much of a game. He actually doesn’t even make it to his cell before he escapes and gains control of the asylum. Your mission obviously is to take back the asylum and put Joker in his place, but you will have to help some of the people trapped in the asylum on your journey through. The story is presented pretty well and most anyone would keep playing just to find out what happens. However, BAA doesn’t have a great replay value. The only reason I could see someone replaying it is so they could unlock the upgrades in a different order.  Overall Batman: Arkham Asylum is a good game. It's very fun, with some intense action thrown in. The story is good, well enough to keep you playing, you won't get bored with all the upgrades and you should enjoy giving Joker's henchman a good ass-kicking. But with no good replay value, you'd probably be better off renting this game rather than buying it, however you won't be too angry if you buy it, since it is a pretty good game. |
