Your first “boss” fight will be with a angel of death. Sounds hard and impossible but not for Dante. After slaying this servant of evil you get to keep his scythe. Another weapon you will wield is Dante’s lover, Beatrice cross. It sends out a burst of holy crosses that will stop any demon in there tracks. You collect souls to upgrade your two mighty weapons. Unholy will up grade the scythe, Holy will the cross. When I played I found it best to kind of even the two out at a same level. Now you understand a little of how Dante fights and what weapons he wields. The layers of Hell was actually laid out well and had a solid feel to it. Although this did happen to me twice , Once while fighting the angel of death I seemed to go into a eternal fall of doom never to die or re-spawn. This also happened to me again while fighting a boss in the gluttony layer . But besides those two factors I didn’t have a single problem with the game. The fighting style is really simple: A jump, X fast attack, Y hard attack, and B cross. When you start to upgrade the weapons you gain the ability to do different types of attack, for example, you could hit LT and X and do a circle with your scythe and hit all the surrounding minions. You can also do the same with the cross, with leveling in holy for instance, you can charge the cross giving the burst more power and you’ll even be able to make demons fly into the air where you can finish them with your scythe. If your looking for a game that has a lot of fighting and dark gore, I don’t think you could do much better than this one. Some of the achievements you can get are amazing. One called “bad nanny” is from slaying un-baptized babies, and this isn’t even the best of it. Through out the game you will face vicious, rancid and disgusting creatures with very fine tuned details. You also have a guide named Virgil. He is located through out the game in different locations. Find them all and get an achievement. After you beat the game you unlock “gates of hell” arena. If you are in the mood to kick the hell out of some demon ass then this is the mode for you. Also you get a new costume, it is Dante’s crusader outfit. My opinion is the original was way cooler. You can also go back and play through the game again with the same skills you had when you beat the game. Over all a good game that I plan on playing again on a higher difficulty. I’d suggest anyone with a dark personality and a mood to kill demons to redeem yourself to absolutely go for it! |
